BUSINESS INSURANCE

I wouldn't expect a company to cover my workmanship,
but accidents do happen.
Is there any help in this area?
                                 Top of Page

Got Kids? Got Money?                                    Top of Page

Yeah, neither do we. If you've got young drivers, you
already know how expensive auto insurance can be,
especially if you've got a young male driver or two. By
writing your home along with your autos, your autos will
get an excellent discount. If you're paying a ton for kids,
the package credits really help! There's also the very
popular idea of putting your young driver in an older vehicle
for liability only... That goes over great (yeah, right). Good
Student Discounts help. Higher deductible help also.

You took insurance through John Deere?    Top of Page

A couple of years ago, John Deere's insurance cost on your
new or used tractor or combine was exceptionally cheap.
However, during the last year or so, the rate has skyrocketed.
We have saved customers a ton of money compared to the
John Deere costs. We can write our coverage without having y
our Farm Package Policy. Call your John Deere dealer for the
insurance rate you are now paying. Then call us.

Can I buy Blizzard coverage for my cattle?     Top of Page

Yes. And, you don't have to have other insurance with us.
Although "freezing" isn't covered, suffocation by snow is
covered. In addition, the policy also includes fire, lightning,
windstorm, hail, theft, accidental shooting, drowning, attack
by wild dogs or animals and collision. You can insure by
buying a policy for the winter season ($3 per head) or on a
reporting basis with the rate lowering a ton during non-winter
time. A $1,000 deductible applies.

What about the "fine print" on "Replacement
Cost on Contents?
                                            Top of Page

If the coverage stopped at "we'll repair or replace with like kind
& quality" without depreciation (only the deductible applies), then
this coverage would be great! However, a lot of companies throw
in the "fine print" which says, "but we won't pay more than 4 times
what the item(s) is worth after taking depreciation. Sometimes
values are $0, and 4 times $0 is still $0. The Allied Group has
eliminated the "4 times" portion of the policy.

I twisted my agent's arm & insured for
market value!

Top of Page

Some companies will insure your home as low as 40% of the
rebuilding cost, however, you may not be getting what you
bargained for. First of all, these types of policies have very
basic coverage, depreciation is taken on partial losses, and,
the rates are usually surcharged which means you probably
didn't save as much as you thought. After the next hail or
wind-storm, you will be the least happy person on your block
(and maybe in town. Other than that….

Why are my Alliance Home & Auto billings so c
confusing?
Top of Page

Every company we represent has easy to understand billings
with monthly options. If you pay for 2 months, your billing next
month shows a minimum amount due of $0. Farmers Alliance
recently updated their billing procedures, however, they still
seem confusing. If you call us, we simply call the company
and then get back with you. If you wish, you can call the
company directly @ 800-362-1075, option 1. Just have your
billing when you call. Just remember, Alliance is aware of
the situation and we look for simplicity soon.

I forgot to mail by auto premium and it's due
tomorrow.
Top of Page

If you're with Allied, no problem. Just send your check and
payment stub to us – make your check out to us. On the
day we receive your payment, we'll input the payment directly
into Allied's computer. It will show paid the same day! Farmers
Alliance will now take credit card payments – just call
800-362-1075.

Can't find my insurance cards – need to go to the
Courthouse!
Top of Page

We'll help you out. Just give us a call. We'll print new cards for
you and mail. Or, we would be happy to fax a copy of your policy
to the Courthouse.

I don't have an insurance card for my trailer –
what do I do?

Top of Page

If you don't have an insurance card for your trailer, this means
the trailer is insured for liability only (no comp or collision).
Just show the insurance card for the vehicle that usually pulls
it. Keep in mind that if the vehicle pulling the trailer is on a
Business Auto Policy, the trailer may need to be listed on
your policy and a premium charged in order for liability coverage
to exist.

I just bought a different car and need to get a tag.
What about the Courthouse?

Top of Page
Call us with the information on your vehicle. We'll print a
form and fax it to the Courthouse. You'll be set, ready to
go. You can also request this service through
"Customer Service".

I'm shopping for a car this weekend – how about
the insurance cost?

If you're insured with Allied, go to the "Allied Service Center"
page. You'll see that you'll be able to call and get quotes in
the evenings and on Saturdays. This is a service the agency
has purchased for our Allied customers.

Who do I call to replace or repair my windshield?

Top of Page

Go to the "Customer Service" page. We've listed several of
the Glass Businesses we've done business with - along with
phone numbers for your convenience. You can also report
your glass claim in this area. If you're with Allied, you have
the option of calling the Service Center's toll free number. And,
of course, during business

I don't want "after market parts"!                Top of Page
Our companies now go with "used parts", not "after market
parts". The "used parts" ARE the genuine GM, Ford, etc.,
parts which most of our customers want. If a used part is
used, the companies will not use a used part older than the
make of your vehicle. The used parts are genuine and lower
costing. It's a win-win situation.

Do all speeding tickets go on my record?    Top of Page
No. The following types of speeding tickets will NOT go on
your record. 1. If you are less than 10mph over the speed
limit in a 70mph zone. 2. If you are less than 5mph over the
speed limit in a 65mph, 60mph, (not in city limits) etc., zone.
3. ALL speeding tickets in town WILL GO ON YOUR RECORD.
If you do get a speeding ticket, be sure to contact the county's
attorney and inquire about a diversion agreement.

Is there a way to get around paying my comp
deductible on windshields?
                            Top of Page

Yes. Kind of. If your windshield can be REPAIRED rather
than replaced, our companies will pay the full price with no
deductible on your part. Also, when replacing a windshield,
ask the glass shop is they have any "deductible discounts".
Some do. Also, if you don't have comp coverage and need a
windshield, tell the glass shop, they may offer an additional
discount. Go to our "Customer Service" page for shop listings.
You can even report a loss there.

Does my child qualify for a Good Student Discount?

Top of Page

Allied gives the "Good Student Discount" starting at age 15.
Our other companies start at age 16. Click "Customer Service"
scroll down to the green print and you'll see the qualifications.
Fill out the form, click submit, and we'll send a "Good Student"
form to your school for an official's signature.

Why is it smart to schedule my jewelry?     Top of Page

Jewelry is covered under the Homeowners policy for such
losses as fire, lightning, windstorm, hail and theft. Theft has
a limitation, on some policies, up to $2,000 and if a setting
simply falls out and is lost, there is no coverage. In addition
a deductible applies. By scheduling jewelry, you'll pick up
coverage for losing a setting, even if it simply falls out. In
addition, the theft limitation no longer applies, and in most
cases, there is no deductible. The additional cost is minimal.

Is Flood Insurance covered under my Homeowners?

Top of Page

No. Flood coverage may be purchased separately.

Is loss by Earthquake covered under my Homeowners?

Top of Page

Earthquake coverage may be purchased, but it is NOT
included in the basic coverage. It's probably best to assume
you haven't got this coverage. Call us for a quote – or just
to see if you've earthquake coverage.

Does my roof have to have wind/hail damage before
interior water damage is
covered?
Top of Page

It depends what "Form" you have. Interior water damage
caused by a leaky roof is covered if the roof was damaged
by wind and/or hail under a Form 1, 2 or 3. However, the
Form 3 also covers interior water damage whether or not
the roof was first damaged by wind or hail. Form 3 is by
far the best way to go and it doesn't cost a lot more than
the Form1 or 2.

How can I make sure my roof won't be depreciated
after a wind or hail loss?

Top of Page

Most policies (Form 2 & 3) won't allow depreciation on your
roof as long as the amount of insurance is at least 80% of
your home's estimated rebuilding cost. Some companies
always depreciate wood roofs regardless of the amount of
insurance carried. Forms such as an ML-2a or HO-2a
indicate depreciation will be taken. The smartest things to
do is to contact your agent.

When should I add my young driver?       Top of Page

When your son or daughter can legally drive alone - age
14 with a Farm Exemption or age 15 with a Restricted
License.

My policy shows a 1% wind/hail deductible,
1% of what?
                                           Top of Page

This means 1% of the amount of insurance carried on your
home. a $90,000 home would have a $900 deductible.
Farmers Alliance was our only company that required a
1% wind/hail deductible a few years ago. Since then, they
have backed off this type of deductible – lower deductibles
are available. Check your policy!

Can I use this service during regular business
hours?
Top of Page

Yes. Our agency currently has more than 1,000 customers.
Sometimes the number of requests can be huge. Since we
work requests in order, we sometimes run behind. The Service
Center helps us out on the day to day requests and improves
our overall service. Give it a try, you'll like it!

I wouldn't expect a company to cover my workmanship,
but accidents do happen. Is there any help in this area?

Top of Page

Yes. For a small charge (usually $15 to $30 per year)
Allied's Contractors Program eliminates the "Care",
"Custody" and "Control" exclusion up to a specific dollar
amount. In addition, Allied extents coverage again, up to a
specific dollar amount, with "Property Damage to Others"
which provides coverage regardless of your negligence.
Why? Because our contactors aren't just into having accidents
covered, they are also into service for their customers. Check
out our Business Page.

Do I have to use this service?                   Top of Page

No. This is an optional service we've purchased for you.
We hope you'll give it a try. The changes you call in or the
information you request (insurance rates on a different
vehicle you're shopping on, adding a vehicle, deleting a
vehicle, questions on your billing, etc.) are made immediately.
And the people… They're great to work with. See
"Allied Service".

Why do I get some billings from the insurance
company and some from the agency?
Top of Page

Billings from the company to you are called "Direct Bill".
Billings from our agency are called "Agency Billed".
Most of our policies are direct bill. We still have a lot
of farm business on Agency Bill. Agency Billed gets
to be a little scary because the companies are guaranteed
the premium by us unless the policy is cancelled.
If customers don't pay on time, it can certainly create a
problem for us.

How much life insurance should I have?

Top of Page

If you ask 10 different insurance agents this question,
chances are you will get 10 different answers.  We
recommend taking enough life insurance to cover your
debt load and take care of final expenses.  If a person
has dependents to consider we  suggest addition
coverage to replace income for at least 5  to 10 years.
Now days life insurance premiums are very affordable.
There should be no excuse for someone to not properly
protect their family.
